Allpax Showcases Solutions for Lowering the Risk of Food Recalls and Worker Injury at Pack Expo 2018

Oct 09, 2018

Allpax retort basket monitoring integrated with a new automated basket loading and unloading device ensures every package is sterilized within its assigned retort and protects employees from the hazards of entering sterilization vessels.

COVINGTON, La., (10/9/18) – Allpax, a product brand of ProMach, showcases for the first time at Pack Expo, October 14-17 in Chicago, its retort basket tracking system, known as Allpax Basket Tracking, integrated with the company’s patent-pending telescoping loader. Together, it provides a seamless solution for lowering the risk of product recalls and improving worker safety.

With Allpax Basket Tracking, any deviation from the food product’s proscribed course from basket loading to unloading creates an alarm condition and halts a basket’s progress until the fault is cleared by authorized personnel. Allpax Basket Tracking is available for automated and non-automated basket handling. It offers multiple benefits such as stainless steel/laser etched barcode tags that extend the service life of the product. It also offers the flexibility of either automated or manual scanning and an easy-to-use interface.

The patent pending Allpax telescoping retort loader automatically moves retort baskets into and out of retorts. The loader reduces risk of injury by eliminating the need for workers to maneuver retort baskets inside a sterilization vessel. The telescoping loader can be used on new retorts or retrofitted to existing horizontal retorts regardless of manufacturer. Loaders are compatible with either one or two door configurations and can be used on any length retort. These small footprint devices are ideal for space constrained operations.

"With the telescoping loader integrated with the Allpax Basket Tracking tracking and electronic record keeping system, food processors have real time monitoring of the progress of each basket through the sterilization process, while at the same time, they have improved worker safety," said Greg Jacob, Vice President and General Manager, Allpax.
